Purchasers
of the blood pressure drug Cardizem CD® or its generic versions
between January 1, 1998 and January 29, 2003 have until September
23 to participate in a proposed $21 million settlement of a nationwide
antitrust lawsuit.
Michigan
Attorney General Mike Cox, who led all 50 states, the District of Columbia and
Puerto Rico in the lawsuit, said the drug makers violated antitrust laws.
"We alleged
that the drug companies had overcharged consumers for Cardizem
CD by keeping cheaper generic versions of the drug off the market
and the companies have agreed to make things right through a multimillion
dollar settlement," said Cox, who urged eligible buyers of
the drugs to act promptly to file a claim.
